"Derailed" Short & "Bystander" PSA (for UCs)

Hi, there! Been meaning to push this update, haha. Two things today.

One, a small project I recently acted in. It was for a student short titled "Derailed" and I played the boyfriend who may be a killer. It's been a while since I got to seriously get into a role, so this was fun (My part appears ~0:23-1:26):

A fun fact is that the restaurant was a room at Frantone's that was at most half the size of what it appears to be in the scene. Movie magic.

Two, a PSA for UCs. This one, I did the acting in January, but the video was posted a little over a month ago. In this, I was an Asian student who is a victim to racism:

My "inner voice" could've been a lot better (in both acting/recording quality), but still cool to see my victimized self plastered across UCs, haha. Also, this was the one and only time (so far) that I got make-up put on my face, so that was interesting.

On a side note, a fun continuity error happens between the very first frontal shot of me and the rest of the scene: My sleeves are pulled up in the very beginning, then magically pulled down the rest.

That's it for now.. Until next time!

Anime Throw Test

New video for AlterChasm!

If you couldn't tell, it's a short test we did to see if we could replicate the dynamic camera movements that are employed in anime in order to amplify certain character's actions. I'm not an anime aficionado, but recently, I developed a new-found appreciation for some visual techniques employed in anime.

For this test, I decided to throw a tennis ball.. Nothing inherently exciting about throwing a tennis ball, but I knew I could use some of the assets from Magic Tennis Ball to make my life easier. And, hey, perhaps you could say the character has taken throwing the magical ball to the next level..?

The test didn't come out quite the way I wanted it to, but the effect is still pretty cool. I initially wanted to make the camera seem like it was moving in and out in real time, but instead, it came out more like stop-and-go type of feel. I think it still feels anime-ish though. It's not perfect, but I think it was a successful test. Hope you like it!

Gallery Updates

I recently noticed that the galleries for "Drawings" and "Illustrations" pages were broken apparently due to API changes made by Flickr. I googled around for solutions and eventually found out that simply updating Galleria (the JavaScript gallery I'm using) resolves the problem. Go figure, huh?

While tinkering with the codes though, I decided to change it up a little. The thumbnails are now a lot bigger, and instead of scrolling, all the available items are displayed in rows.

Furthermore, I've updated both galleries with new items, so check them out!

One of the newly added items (Box art for a board game called "Conquering Knights")

"O" Monologue & New VFX/Acting Page

A while ago, I took an "Acting for the Camera" class, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This is the final I performed.. a monologue from something called "O" apparently. I decided to upload it to add it to the new "VFX/Acting" page that you may have noticed.

Check out my monologue:

Sure, not the best acting in the world, but it was fun. I miss acting, haha.

On a side note, despite all the sun you see, the weather was actually quite cold and I probably was doing my best not to shiver, haha. We were really fortunate to have gotten all that light because weather was rain-prone. Catch you next update!

Second AlterChasm Video "Magic Tennis Ball"!

Hello, world!

Here is our 2nd video for AlterChasm: "Magic Tennis Ball"! It's another "for fun & experience" project. I feel I learned a lot working on it. And, of course, thanks to the awesome people who helped out!

So here it is, "Magic Tennis Ball":

And this time, we had enough footage for a separate bloopers/(some)BTS video:

Also, for those interested, the full credits list here.
